Media Fellowship House is a non-sectarian,
non-political group of diverse members of your community who agree on the need
to promote understanding and acceptance of all people without regard to race,
culture, gender, age or disabilities.
The Fellowship House helps
families with the assistance of the Homeownership First Program. It provides the
potential homeowners with counseling, budgeting, qualifying for a mortgage and
securing the County down payment and closing cost financial assistance. The Fellowship
House also provides homeowners with the Homeowners' Emergency Mortgage Assistance
Program. It helps homeowners who through no fault of their own are financially
unable to make their mortgage payments obtain loans, seek education and job training
when they need it most.
The House helps over 500 seniors a month
by providing activities, low cost meals information and the opportunity to be
among friends.
They help children by hosting "The Stars Shine
Over Media" an annual talent show with performances given by local children
and their annual Halloween Party which gives kids a safe place to enjoy music,
refreshments and games.
It helps the community by offering a meeting
place (which is available for rental to the public at a reasonable rate). It is
the primary sponsor of Study Circles on Race Relations with the Media Area Branch
of NAACP, the Media branch of the League of Women Voters and other local groups.
It is the Co-sponsor of the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration.
It also sponsors the annual Festival of Myth, Folklore and Story with performances
throughout the town of Media.
