As you walk around the Borough, you may notice some new trees in yards and along the street. Between Friday, November 17 and Sunday, November 19, Media Tree Tenders volunteers planted 32 trees throughout the Borough. Volunteers even included students from Penncrest High School’s Environmental Impact Club. Species planted included a Swamp White Oak, Hornbeams, Maples, Redbuds, and Serviceberries - making sure to plant the “right tree in the right place”.
These trees were all planted thanks to PHS : Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Tree Tenders program and were part of nearly 1800 Tree Tender trees planted in the Philadelphia region this weekend!
In this season of gratitude, Media Tree Tenders is grateful for the partnership with the Media Borough Shade Tree Commission, Media Borough Public Works, community members, and Transition Town Greater Media who all worked together to make this happen.
These 32 trees will help clean our air, cool our neighborhoods, shade us, help manage stormwater, provide homes for wildlife, and give us added beauty.
