Philip Green Park

  1. 1 Philip Green Concept Plan_small

Philip Green Park is a wooded site, about three-quarters of an acre located on the east side of South Olive Street. It stretches down to Lincoln Street, straddling the border of Media Borough and Upper Providence Township.  It looks like a modest grassy strip that parallels Olive Street. The remainder of the park features steep slopes that channel a small feeder stream to Ridley Creek, the area’s water supply.

Media Borough plans to develop Phillip Green as a passive park, providing a small ADA-accessible overlook plaza at street level with views to the stream below. The project will connect the park to the Media and Upper Providence neighborhoods as well as to nearby Houtman Park with a new sidewalk.  It will remove the invasive species currently choking our native trees and include landscaping enhancements.

Notably, this project is 100% funded through state and county grants, including the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (C2P2 Grant) along with Delaware County (Delco Green Ways Grant).

Media Borough Council awarded this park project to the low bidder, S.B. Conrad, Inc.  The contractor will break ground in October 2024 and complete the entire renovation by the end of the calendar year.

Stay tuned for future updates.
